C. P Hoggie is a hedgehog who visits our garden most nights. In 2014 at least four hedgehogs visited our garden. In 2015
C. P. Hoggie is our sole visitor. We fear that something unfortunate may have happened to the others.
This prompted us to start an awareness campaign aimed at ensuring that the hedgehog remains a common and familiar part of our
life at City Point. We know hedgehogs are in trouble. Britain has lost a third of it's hedgehogs in the last ten years. In ten year's time the hedgehog may be extinct.
Fortunately, hedgehogs love gardens. If they have access to lots and lots of different gardens that provide a safe habitat,
they will survive. So this campaign is about giving the people of City Point an understanding of hedgehogs and show how easy it is to help them.
Reasons why hedgehogs need our help:
-
Hedgehogs are in big trouble.
-
Hedgehogs play a vital part in our ecosystem.
-
Hedgehogs are deeply rooted in our culture (traced back as far as 3,800 years
ago).
-
Hedgehogs can thrive alongside us.
-
Hedgehogs will keep your gardens clear of slugs (much better for the environment
than using chemicals).
-
Hedgehogs are excellent mothers.
-
BUT most of all, people LOVE hedgehogs.
-
They were recently voted our most popular wild animal (not for the first
time).
